Stefanovich: "We insist that all accusations be dropped from Fedynich and Komlik"

Rights defenders from the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Viasna" have monitored the whole trial of the leaders of the REP Trade Union.

On November 9, the Minsk City Court (MCC) considered the appeals against the verdict and upheld the judgement of the Sovietsky District Court.

In this context, Valentin Stefanovich, a board member of the HRC "Viasna", has noted:

"After the MCC's decision, our position in the so-called 'trade union case' remains unchanged. We insist that all the charges be dropped from Messrs Fedynich and Komlik. We are confident that the prosecution of the leaders of the independent REP Trade Union is politically motivated and aimed to suppress their union activities."
