Ideologists of Minsk Regional Executive Committee call FPB to counteract independent unions
16.05.2012
The primary organizations of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FPB) shall oppose the attempts of "destructive influence" on people, especially by the independent trade unions. This was stated on May 10 by Ruslan Trukhan, the head of the chief ideology department of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee at a Committee session in Minsk, the "BelaPAN" reports. According to the boss of regional ideologists, the most numerous in the Minsk Region is the primary organization of the Belarusian Independent Trade Union (BNP) at the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "Belaruskali". It unites 4569 workers. "Over the last five months, through the efforts of the company's top managers, the membership of the BNP unit has decreased by 138 persons, while at the same time the increase in the membership of the "Belaruskali" primary organization – a member of the FPB – has increased not so significantly – by 65 persons only," said Mr Trukhan. These are the "shortcomings" of the FPB trade unions. According to his version, over the last five months out of seven organizational structures of independent trade unions only four has survived in the region. "In general, the socio-political situation is stable and controlled; periodic activity of non-constructive forces is observed in the Borisov, Soligorsk and Molodechno Districts, and in the town of Zhodino. The forces, whose actions are non-constructive in nature, are constantly in our field of view," Mr Trukhan has reported to his bosses from the Minsk Regional Executive Committee. In his turn, Boris Batura, Chairman of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee, has noted that people like to go to the places, where "innovative approaches" to activities are demonstrated. "How old is the independent trade union at 'Belaruskali'? Twenty years old; and almost for 20 years practically nobody can do anything to drop their membership by at least an order of magnitude," said Boris Batura. According to his story, this "huge independent" trade union is an example for others. "And if the 'normal' union fails to take adequate actions, they will appear at other enterprises," concluded the state official.
