MTZ bosses hold provocation against women who demanded higher wages

Two women-workers of the Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ) were detained at the checkpoint by factory's securities. A search of one of them has revealed leaflets about the People's Assembly. The securities called the militia. The woman asserts that the leaflets were planted on her with the aim to sack her from the factory.more >>

On October 7, Igor Komlik, Chairman of the Minsk City Organization of the REP Trade Union and a member of the initiative group for the preparation and holding of the Minsk city rally of citizens (People's Assembly), was summoned to the Prosecutor's Office to warn him about responsibility for breaking the law "On Mass Events". The trade union activist refused to sign up the warning.more >>

In the morning, at about 6:50 a.m. on October 6, at the checkpoint of the "Integral" Factory, militiamen detained Igor Komlik, Chairman of the Minsk City Organization of the REP Trade Union. The trade union activist was disseminating the bulletin "Rabochaya Solidarnost" (Workers' Solidarity) among the workers who were going to work.more >>

Vladimir Tsurpanov, a worker of the Mogilyov Automobile Plant (trademark MoAZ), a member of the REP Trade Union, refused to work in his shabby uniform. He himself sewed a special welder's suit – and was punished for that: first, the plant administration deprived him of his due bonuses, and then refused to extend his labour contract.more >>
